Dear UTR members,
Happy Monday and happy February, only 10 days left until Presidents Week! From January 27th through January 29th our wonderful State Council Members Doug Marques, Robert Ellis, Eric Swabeck, and Jacob Gran represented us in LA. Below are their reports, please read at your earliest convenience.
I would like to thank our State Council Representatives for doing an incredible job and speaking on UTR’s behalf.
1. The Loan Forgiveness Training was POSTPONED for April.
2. If you are a TTL, VAPA, academic subcommittee lead, or Department Chair and were not paid your full stipend due to missing the monthly district lead meetings please contact us as soon as possible.
3. School Board Meeting – February 15th at Lovonya DeJean Middle School, UTR is speaking against the continuation of Richmond Charter Academy. We are opposing it due to its terrible disciplinary practices and harm to our children as well as to their educators. Please join us to unite against the approval of their contract that will keep them open until 2021.
Reminder to please send updated contact lists to the UTR office at your earliest convenience. Sites/departments with 100% participation will get a prize from UTR!
President, United Teachers of Richmond CTA/NEA
