Proposition 55

Proposition 55 is not a new tax but an extension of proposition 30. Proposition 55 will continue providing funding to our schools for programs, salaries, and needs in the classroom for our students. WCCUSD gets approximately 110 million dollars throughout a three years period from it which is a huge amount for our teachers and students. Without proposition 55 we would go back to the days where arts and sciences were cut, technology didn’t exist in low-income communities, and over 30,000 teachers were laid off. This tax is only a tax on the wealthiest Californians (individuals who make over $250,000 and families that make over $500,000). We urge you to support us through this endeavor, if you would like more information about 55 please go here: http://www.protectingcalifornia.com

Proposition 58
Proposition 58 will finally take parts of Proposition 227 away and will increase bilingual education throughout California. Proposition 227 restricts students from enrolling into language immersion programs. With Proposition 58, we will be able to grow and fund bilingualism in WCCUSD and the state. In WCCUSD it is critical that we grow bilingual education and support our students who are English learners as well as support our English speaking students to become more global thinkers. Measure T
Measure T, or the extension of the already existing WCCUSD Parcel Tax. This parcel tax consists of 10 million dollars that go straight to fund librarians at our schools, support speech pathologists and councilors, support the reduction of class sizes K-3 which is so needed, and finally it supports athletics in WCCUSD. Many people believe that Measure T has to do with bonds and construction but its not. This measure pays strictly for programs and teachers.
