Upcoming UTR sponsored PDs
We will be hosting a Loan Forgiveness training on April 13th at Helms Middle School. This training was rescheduled from February and we are very excited that is actually happening. For more information, sign up, and share the flyer please download HERE.
We will be co-hosting the New Teacher Spring Gathering this coming Saturday, March 25th at Lovonya DeJean Middle School from 8:30 to 12:30. This training is very similar to the one hosted in the fall and will provide lots of information as well as professional development on classroom management, trauma support, tech PD, self-care and prioritizing, student engagement, and lesson planning. Anyone is welcomed and you may time card or use towards your 10 hours of self-directed professional development. For the flyer with more information please download HERE.
Congratulations to all of those who participated in the recent UTR general election. A big thank you to all the candidates. The victorious candidates are listed below with number of votes:
Marissa Glidden, Vice President (incumbent): 305 votes
Robert Ellis, Local Delegate for NEA/RA 226 votes, UTR funded for RA
Kudos to the elections committee for their commitment and support of the UTR membership.
School Board Meeting – Study Session
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017
There will be a District Budget Workshop that will be hosted by the West Contra Costa Unified School District, March 22nd at 6:00 PM in the DeJean Multi-Purpose Room during the study session. We encourage any members curious about the state of the budget from the districts perspective to please attend.
Drafts of the 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21 School Calendars were sent last week. Over 100 people have given their input, if you would like to as well please go to the link below:
Historically the academic calendar gets negotiated in collaboration with all the unions in WCCUSD. The unions get input from their memberships and come to the table. This is separate from our bargaining negotiations.
Draft 3 in the 2018-19 School Year reflects membership request to have a full week off during Thanksgiving; however, it extends the school year from June 5th to June 7th.
